One of the very best bands in rock and roll has to be the Rolling Stones. They have had tons of hits and keep on rockin' to this day. They have brought rock music some pretty amazing songs that seem to be just instant hits. Here at Oldiez 96.1, we are honoring one of the best bands in rock history with an entire weekend of music. It's our Rolling Stones weekend. And, in celebration of the event, I have compiled a list of my Top 5 Favorite Rolling Stones Songs. Enjoy.

"Angie"

This iconic Stones song can be found on their "Goats Head Soup" album, back from 1973. According to Wikipedia, "Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and recorded in November and December 1972, "Angie" is an acoustic guitar driven ballad which tells of the end of a romance. Rolling Stones-recording regular Nicky Hopkins plays the song's distinctive piano accompaniment."

"Wild Horses"

Released in 1971, this has become one of their most iconic songs. And, according to Wikipedia, "Rolling Stone [Magazine] ranked it at #334 in its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list in 2004."

"It Won't Take Long"

Here's one of my favorites from a later album. From their 24th American studio album "A Bigger Bang", here's "It Won't Take Long". It was released in in 2005. According to Wikipedia, "A Bigger Bang was touted as the best Rolling Stones album since 1981's Tattoo You and found the band in a revitalized state."

"Get Off of My Cloud"

Back from 1965, here's "Get Off of My Cloud." Who can forget this classic? It has a great melody and it's easy to sing along to.

"Rock and a Hard Place"

Here it is, my number one favorite Rolling Stones song--"Rock and a Hard Place." Now, it might not be on everyone's top 5 list because there are tons and tons of great Stones songs, but, I really like this song. "At the time of release, Jagger said, "This is one of those songs like "Start Me Up," where the minute you hear the opening notes, you head for the dance floor. It's real '70s, in the best possible way," according to Wikipedia.
