After what seems like decades of enticing progress reports from the recording studio, ZZ Top's first new album in eight years, 'La Futura,' has arrived.
The flood of "return to glory" talk may run counter to the proper enjoyment of this record, which after all that time and effort somewhat surprisingly reveals itself as more of a low-key and charming affair.
Even if you've never heard a ZZ Top song (a travesty) you simply have to have those iconic beards etched into your memory! I doubt any other artists could pull that off today, imagine a boy band with beards like that? Um, nope. Only true rockers can rock a beard much less ones that long... Curious how it all began?
ZZ Top aren’t exactly the “turn around a new album every year” kind of band anymore, but even by their standards, their latest stint between records was rather long. Part of the reason for that is the perfectionist streak that went into the ‘La Futura’ disc, courtesy of noted producer Rick Rubin.
Rock legends ZZ Top will be honored with the Living Legends award at Classic Rock magazine’s Roll of Honour awards ceremony. The event will take place at London’s Roundhouse Theater on Nov. 13.

Friday night, May 25, that little ol’ band from Texas rolled into the East Coast to kick off their ‘Gang of Outlaws Tour’ at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The tour trifecta features headliners ZZ Top in addition to the unique pairing of 3 Doors Down and Gretchen Wilson as show openers.
ZZ Top are reportedly planning to release a four-song EP via iTunes in June, which will include ‘I’ve Got to Get Paid,’ the song they unveiled via a Jeremiah Weed beer commercial a few weeks ago.
