Zach’s Top 5 Favorite Paul McCartney Songs [MUSIC]

Sir Paul McCartney is an amazing songwriter. He composed some of the best Beatles songs ever written--"Yesterday," "Get Back," "Hello, Goodbye," and the list goes on and on--and, as a solo artist, he wrote some pretty amazing stuff, too. According to Wikipedia, "McCartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the "most successful musician and composer in popular music history", with 60 gold discs and sales of 100 million singles in the United Kingdom alone." And, he deserves that title. His songs are just so good. So, today, I would like to highlight my Top 5 Favorite Paul McCartney Songs as a solo artist.

"Too Much Rain"
This song is catchy, has a great melody and is fun to sing along to (well, as long as you can hit those high notes). This song is from his "Chaos and Creation" album from 2005.

"Live and Let Die"

There was bound to be a few songs while Paul was with Wings. And, here's one--Live and Let Die. According to Wikipedia, "The song was one of Wings' most successful singles, and the most successful Bond theme to that point, charting at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, and number nine on the UK Singles Chart."

"Let 'Em In"
Composed and also sung by Paul, this song appeared on the Wings album "Wings at the Speed of Sound." I really like this song. The piano, the vocals, the horns--it all comes together and makes an unforgettable tune.

I find this song the most enjoyable to sing, especially when I play the "Rock Band" game. The song was released in 1973 on the "Band on the Run" album by Paul McCartney and Wings. According to Wikipedia, "in 2003, the album was ranked #418 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[1] A contemporary review by Jon Landau in Rolling Stone described the album as "(with the possible exception of John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band) the finest record yet released by any of the four musicians who were once called the Beatles."

"Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"

And, here it is, my all time favorite Paul McCartney song--Uncle Albert/Admial Halsey. I absolutely love how the song begins slow, then gets fast. It's just a well put together song. And, the best part of the song is when the horns begin to play and Paul sings, "Hands across the water. Heads across the sky." According to Wikipedia, "McCartney said "Uncle Albert" was based on his uncle. "He's someone I recall fondly, and when the song was coming it was like a nostalgia thing."[4] McCartney also said, "As for Admiral Halsey, he's one of yours, an American admiral", referring to Admiral William "Bull" Halsey." Also, "Paul McCartney won the Grammy Award for Best Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists in 1971 for the song," according to Wikipedia.
