Zach’s Top 5 Favorite Elton John Songs [MUSIC]

With over 250 million records sold and countless awards, Sir Elton John has given this world some of rock's best music. I mean, who can forget “Bennie and the Jets” and “Your Song”? They're some of the best songs ever written. Over the years, Elton John has given us unforgettable songs, so compiling a list of my favorites was a bit difficult. They're all great in different ways. But, I have compiled a list nonetheless, and, today, I would like to share with you my Top 5 Favorite Elton John Songs. (Oh, something I found interesting about Sir Elton John–his birth name is Reginald Kenneth Dwight.)

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

Released in 1973, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was written by Elton John's collaborating lyricist Bernie Taupin. According to Wikipedia, "It was widely praised by critics, and some critics have named it John's best song."

"Crocodile Rock"

This song is fun and uptempo. Interesting story about this song: "The song was inspired by John's discovery of leading Australian band Daddy Cool and their hit single, with 1,000,000 sold. "Eagle Rock",[4] which was the most successful Australian single of the early 1970s, remaining at No.1 for a record of 10 weeks.[5][6] John heard the song and the group on his 1972 Australian tour and was greatly impressed by it," according to Wikipedia.

"Bennie and the Jets"

Here is one of Elton John's most recognizable songs. "Axl Rose, of Guns N' Roses, has stated it was listening to "Bennie and the Jets" that inspired him to become a singer," according to Wikipedia.

2

"I'm Still Standing"

A Great song that definitely gets your foot tappin', with its uptempo beat. According to Wikipedia, "The song became a big hit for John on both sides of the Atlantic, peaking at #4 in the UK, reaching #1 in Switzerland and #12 in the US."

"Your Song"

And, here it is, my favorite Elton John song. I few weeks ago, I spotlighted this song by listing my favorite covers of this song. Like I mentioned in that story, Your Song is just one of those perfect love songs that's nice to sing along to. I called it "one of those quintessential love songs."
