Why Do People Add Lime To Corona Beer?
Have you ever wondered why people add lime to Corona Beer and not any other? If this is a beer question you’re seeking an answer to, you’re in the right place. Is there a real reason behind why a Corona beer is served with the now infamous lime wedge?
Our friends over at the Jubilee Hotel worked hard had a couple theories and we’d like to share those with you:
The Marketing Theory
Corona beer is sold in clear glass bottles. Clear bottles are known to make beer taste ‘skunky.’ From a marketing standpoint, dropping a lime in the beer takes care of the skunky taste that a clear bottle causes.
The Sanitary Theory
Throughout history the lime wedge was thought to be originally used for sanitary purposes. Think about it, back when modern hygiene was minimal in Mexico, people would use lime for many things.
The Mexican Tradition Theory
Limes are served with most drinks in Mexico. However in Mexico, limes are served with pitchers of beer, not with the individual bottles.
