Blu-Ray, as you can see, is very quickly taking over DVDs.  If you didn’t already know, Blu-Ray is the High Definition version of what a DVD can offer.  Designed to play specifically in Blu-Ray players, the resolution is much higher than a DVD.  So what’s the big deal?  Why all the fuss?  Really, none, however, there are some movies that are definitely better on blu-ray.  Just about any movie that screams special effects, is 10 times better on blu-ray.  Here is an example.  Blu-ray of “Avatar” – Awesome.  Blu-ray of “Gone With the Wind” – not so awesome.  Blu-ray of Iron Man 2 – Very Awesome.  Blu-ray of Season 1 of The Andy Griffith Show – still awesome, but blu-ray not needed.  Basically, if the film was not recorded digitally in high definition, it’s not going to come out that way on your tv screen.  Older movies and TV shows are just fine on regular DVD, while it is still available, so no need to spend the extra money.  Blu-ray is definitely becoming more commonplace now as well.  A couple of years ago, there was a small handful of blu-ray movies available, now they are everywhere.  Soon enough, though, all of your video content will be streaming, so you won’t have to make that difficult choice of blu-ray or DVD.
