One of America's oldest national treasures is going high tech for its 125th anniversary. Five webcams are being installed in the torch of the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. The webcams will be turned on this Friday, (October 28th), to commemorate the statue's dedication 125 years ago. The webcams will offer internet users an eye full:

Through the webcams, Internet users around the world will have four views, including a high-quality, 180-degree stitched panorama of the harbor with stunning views of Ellis and Governors islands. They will be able to watch as ships go by Liberty Island and observe as the Freedom Tower at the World Trade Center goes up floor-by-floor in lower Manhattan. They can get a fish-eye look at the torch itself as it glows in the night. - WCFCourier.com

The webcams will be online 24 hours a day, seven days a week so you can enjoy the view at your online leisure.

Friday's anniversary will also feature actress Sigourney Weaver reading Emma Lazarus' famous poem and of course, a naturalization ceremony for 125 candidates from over 40 countries.

You can see the webcams at these websites: EarthCam.com, and NPS.gov.
