The Utica 'Aud' was named recently in a Pro Hockey blog as one of the best six places in the world to play hockey in.

It's a bucket list for players and the 'Aud' checks in at #4 along with some pretty decent company.  Madison Square Garden in New York City sits at the top, followed by Majori Primary School Sports Hall (Jurmala, Latvia) and the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

"Nicknamed “The Aud,” what makes this rink unique is its architecture on the inside. Just take a glance toward the ceiling and you’ll see long cables, similar to the type used on suspension bridges. It’s an astounding feature, both for the players who skate on the ice and the spectators who take in the games."

The 'Aud' has seen major changes over the last two years with the return of professional hockey in Utica with the Comets of the American Hockey League.  The Auditorium has been home to some legendary hockey over the years and even included the filming of scenes for the legendary 1977 hockey movie, "Slapshot" which starred Paul Newman.

Hockey continues to be the anchor for the Auditorium in 2014 with sell-out games scheduled for the Utica Comets and the Utica College Pioneers.
