I'm not an avid horseracing fan, but my wife and I do take interest in the Triple Crown, and this Saturday, it's the 146th "Belmont Stakes". To make it more exciting, this year there's a good chance we might see the first Triple Crown winner since "Affirmed" in 1978 if "California Chrome" finishes first!

As of Thursday, June 5th, there are 11 horses entered in The Belmont Stakes, Saturday, June 7th. According to belmontstakes.com:

"Since 1919, only 11 horses have won racing’s most prestigious prize, the Triple Crown. Affirmed, in 1978, was the last horse to achieve the remarkable feat of winning all three races, at three different distances, at three different tracks, in the space of five weeks. The current 32-year gap between Triple Crown winners is the longest drought in the series’ history.
