Fans of the cult horror film 'Trick 'r Treat' flocked to the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Monday night for a screening and fan Q&A event, but they ended up leaving with their biggest hope fulfilled. Legendary Studios announced that 'Trick 'r Treat 2' is on the way.

Hosted by Legendary Studios, the 'Trick 'r Treat' panel presentation featured director Michael Dougherty and stars Quinn Lordstars, Dylan Baker, Brian Cox and Jean-Luc Bilodeau, with a surprise appearance by producer Bryan Singer ('X-Men: Days of Future Past'). At the end of the panel, Dougherty and Lordstars teased the audience with a bit involving a birthday card marked with a plea for a sequel. "I'd like to. I don't have the authority," said Dougherty, before Legendary Studios head Thomas Tull popped out of the audience to reveal the title keyart for 'Trick 'r Treat 2.'

Dougherty confirmed to EW that he will be back to both script and direct the sequel, though it's too early to preview any plot details just yet.

The first 'Trick 'r Treat' also starred Anna Paquin ('True Blood,' 'X-Men') and followed four interweaving storylines occurring on Halloween. From the official logline, "The tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety human and otherwise try to survive the scariest night of the year."
