After we've all watched AMC's "The Walking Dead", we all begin to question whether or not a zombie apocalypse is on the way. If so, where do we go? Well, I like to make sure I have all my ducks in a row, and plan for this event. I've already started mapping out my top safe points. Some may call it paranoia, others call it being prepared. Here's my Top 4 Places To Hide Out In Utica In A Zombie Apocalypse.

  • Party Barge On Water

Lucky for us here in Central New York we have a lot of big water masses. We have Lake Delta, Onedia Lake, The Finger Lakes, and Lake Ontario. This plan requires living on a massive party barge, a big yaht, or even a cruise ship. The risky part would be having to send a smaller boat to land for supplies. The one benefit, "Walkers" can't swim, they would just walk on the bottom of the lake. Don't go in the shallow end.

  • Old Forge/Adirondacks Region

Currently there is only two roadways into the Old Forge region: Route 28 and the Number Four Road through the Stillwater Reservoir area. At the very beginning of the zombie apocalypse head up North. Drive up, and keep going. Why? It's going to be very safe because this region is virtual untouched. If a zombie disease was going to spread, it'd take a long time to head up North. Even when it does, there is so much land to rebuild homes on you'd be super safe. You'd be able to control who comes in and out. You could head back into smaller towns near Utica to grab more supplies, but you'd have to be very safe. Major cities are off limit.

  • Thousand Islands

What part over a thousand islands seems like a bad idea? You could rebuild, and start over. Going back to the party barge idea, you'd just have to be careful grabbing supplies. "Walkers" would be unable to walk through the shipping chanel. At some parts, it's extremely deep. Divers are unable to get down to certain ship wrecks. Walkers would be gone for good. There is two large castles that seem extremely safe. During the winter, "Walkers" would struggle in the cold, and being close to Canada seems like a great idea.

  • F.X. Matt Brewing Company

This one is a great idea, but a dangerous one. If a zombie apocalypse happens, alcohol will have much more value than cash or gold. Alchol can be used for medicine, a cleaner, healing posion ivy, biofuel, soothing constapation, and a few other great purposes. This brewery is pretty well protected by a series of fences. Also, I'm only assuming there must be some sort of underground tunnels near the brewery from the prohibiton days. There just has too be. And there must be some sort of old sewage drains. This will make travel in and out of the brewery much more safer, and much more "Walker" free.
