Today Marks One-Year Anniversary Of Boston Marathon Bombing [VIDEO]

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, an event that brought the nation together in experiencing the tragedy and horror of that day. The city of Boston has been "Boston Strong" ever since, and a number of events are planned for the days leading up to this year's race, to be held on April 21st.According to q.usatoday.com:

"President Barack Obama released a statement on the one-year anniversary: A year ago, tragedy struck at the 117th Boston Marathon. Four innocent people were killed that week, and hundreds more were wounded. Today, we remember Krystle Campbell, Lingzi Lu, Martin Richard, and Sean Collier. And we send our thoughts and prayers to those still struggling to recover."

One year later, we also stand in awe of the men and women who continue to inspire us – learning to stand, walk, dance and run again. With each new step our country is moved by the resilience of a community and a city. And when the sun rises over Boylston Street next Monday – Patriot’s Day – hundreds of thousands will come together to show the world the meaning of Boston Strong as a city chooses to run again."

"The 118th Boston Marathon will be a mixture of triumphs and tears, beginning with a tribute event Tuesday honoring those injured in last year's bombings. A look at the week heading into the April 21 race:

The field: There will be 36,000 entrants, a 33% increase from limits of 27,000 runners in recent years. It will be the second-largest field size in Boston history, behind only the centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 that had a starting field of 38,708.

The field includes about 4,500 of 5,624 athletes who were still on the course last year when the two bombs exploded."
