If these glasses get bent any more, I don't know what I'm going to do!  I'm extremely near-sighted and have always had very thick glasses. So thick that the "ultra thin" high-index lenses still look and feel like coke bottles. And believe me, even the slightest impact can bend the frames just a little, sending the focus out of whack. I'm not going to pretend to understand or explain why, but for those glasses wearers out there it's an all too common problem.

I've finally decided to get Lasik Eye Surgery at Francis Eye & Laser Center in the Utica Business Park. I've always been hesitant, not sure what the real outcome of the surgery might be. But Francis Eye & Laser Center offers a free, no obligation consultation. When I went for my initial exam, Dr. Francis Migliaccio and his staff did a very thorough series of tests just to determine if I was even a good candidate for the surgery. I was very close to the upper end of being approved - any worse and they wouldn't have considered surgery to be FDA approved. But he gave me a realistic explanation of what I could expect.  He said my best option would correct my vision so I wouldn't need to wear glasses or contacts for reading. And for me that's ALL DAY. Reading a computer screen, reading scripts and notes in the studio. I might have to wear glasses for driving, mostly at night when he said I would have the most sensitivity and strained vision.

My surgery is set for the first week in October, and I can't wait to get rid of these glasses!  Getting sunglasses and maybe a very "light" prescription for driving will be an exciting prospect for once - not just another trip to get ugly, thick glasses that will inevitably bend and break. Are you not so sure about Lasik Eye Surgery? I'll be posting more about my experience; I'll even be posting a video of the surgery once it's all done.
