The U.S. Postal Service lost $16 billion last year. Think about it: When email is free, why would people still send letters? Well, they tried saving money by stopping mail on Saturdays, and now their latest plan to make some money is by releasing a clothing line. It's called "Rain, Heat & Snow," and you can wear it in any weather, and somehow integrate your electronics. I know you're like me, when you think fashion you think mailmen.

The Postal Service is calling this line "smart apparel". that you can wear in any weather condition, and that somehow integrates with your electronics. Although they haven't really spilled the beans on how it does that.

“This agreement will put the Postal Service on the cutting edge of functional fashion,” said Postal Service Corporate Licensing Manager Steven Mills. “The main focus will be to produce Rain Heat & Snow apparel and accessories using technology to create ‘smart apparel’ — also known as wearable electronics.”

A company named Wahconah Group located in Cleveland, Ohio is going to help the Postal Service produce these gems. There's no word when the clothing will hit stores.

The Postal Service is claiming this clothing will put them on the cutting edge of functional fashion. Here's an idea, why don't they focus on what they know best.... delivering mail. I've never been in a big dilemma where I was seeking fashion advice and thought “What would a mailman wear?”.
