With sappy music, a playground and sunflowers, this trailer for The Evil Within was not what we were expecting, until the barbwire traps, zombies and monsters showed up.

Police detective Sebastian Castellanos is in for a night of hell in the Tokyo Game Show 2014 trailer for The Evil Within. The trailer starts off with Sebastian running down what appears to be an insane asylum or hospital's hallway down to an elevator. As he's trudging along, we hear the commentary of Ruvik, the game's antagonist. For those who think his voice seems familiar, it should -- Ruvik is played by Jackie Early Haley, known for his portrayal of Rorschach in 'Watchmen'.

Just as Sebastian is about to reach the elevator, the trailer changes its pacing and shows us all the horrific sights we were expecting from The Evil Within. We were surprised to see more of the death traps we first saw in Resident Evil 4. One of the traps had Seb's foot stuck in barbwire, holding him in place for one of Ruvik's deadly designs to kill him.

Be ready to take on Shinji Mikami's return to survival horror when The Evil Within laucnhes on Oct. 14 for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Looks like The Evil Within is going to get gruesome.
