The Doobie Brothers will celebrate their 40th anniversary as a group by teaming up with Chicago for a summer concert tour that will feature an evening full of hits from both bands and their legendary catalogs.

Chicago and the Doobies have toured together in the past, of course. In fact, they first toured together back in the ‘70s, so there is a lot of history between the two groups. Each will play their own set and then join together at the end of the night for an exciting rock and roll jam session that will feature all of the musicians from both bands on the same stage, playing each other’s songs.

The tour is currently set to begin on July 11 in Tucson, Ariz. and will wrap up Aug. 24 in Scranton, Pa.

Later this year, the Doobie Brothers will take their music to the high seas, performing with Lynyrd Skynyrd as part of Skynyrd’s inaugural 2012 ‘Simple Man Cruise.’
