National Anthem Performances At The Super Bowl [VIDEO]

Over the years, on Super Sunday in the Greg McShea household, we usually hold our breath and sometimes cringe when performers sing the national anthem before the start of the big game. Why some feel they have to improvise, modulate the notes on the ending for 45 seconds, or make up their own words, I haven't got a clue. This year, opera singer Renee Fleming will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" to open Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, February 2nd (sounds like a safe bet to me).

Humor: The Star Spangled Banner Sheet Music, The Way It’s REALLY Sung!

Amidst the rumors that Beyonce lip-synced the National Anthem at Obama's Inauguration, it occurs to me that some singers probably shouldn't even be allowed to sing the Star Spangled Banner at a live event and would be better off if they lip-synced it, maybe even to a recording of Beyonce!
