Careercast.com has once again ranked the year's best and worst jobs based on criteria like physical demands, work environment, income, stress, and hiring outlook. Curious where your job measures up?
There's business, business casual, casual and dress-down Fridays but what does all of that mean? Seems easier to decode DaVinci! Some people have to wear a shirt and tie or dress suit to work, others have a uniform, still others can go more casual with khakis and a polo and some (the lucky few) don't have to worry about a dress code at all! Even fewer get the wonderful distinction of working from home in their PJ's!
Pushing all of those buttons is hard and takes like a week of training to get the hang of, but I didn't know it was THAT hard. McDonald's wants you to spend 4 YEARS in training instead, or rather a restaurant manager in Massachusetts does. And that's not all, this store actually requires their front line crew to have a year or two of experience first! Really?? Man they must have the cream of the crop in that market!
Do you ever deviate from your responsibilities at work? C'mon now, admit it, you check your Facebook feed or sit back and chat with co-workers about who knows what right? Okay, so if you admit you do that, it's probably for just '5 minutes' right? Nope. Lisa has spent the last 16 years taking care of her 61-year-old mother Linda. Now Linda wants to help her daughter out. Linda has been standing on the streets holding up a sign offering $500 cash to anyone who gives her daughter a full time job. Check out that picture of the Mom with the $500 sign here:
Now if you are thinking you never get to have fun at your job, and you wish you were a kid again, check this out. In San Francisco, one lucky guy gets paid to jump on beds. I wish I had that job.
Unemployed? Well, that sucks. You do have options, though:
There are a handful of dream jobs out there – personal lotion applicator to Kate Upton, nipple puffer for Bar Refaeli, masseuse for John Travolta… wait, what? But, one of the most underrated professions has to be Adult Film Writer.
It’s so tough to find a job out there that no gimmick is too desperate or pathetic. Just look at a guy from Minneapolis who was so hard up for a job that he blew his meager funds for some face time on an electronic billboard, begging someone — anyone — to hire him.
In this economy, people are lucky just to have a job.
Which is perhaps why the majority of Americans would pick job security over higher pay, if given the choice.
When you were little you may have been like millions of other kids who dreamed of becoming an astronaut.
