Two days ago Taco Bell rolled out a huge update on their app - You can now skip the lines and order your food on your phone and just pop in and pick it up! I'm not big on fast food, but upon hearing this, I decided to download the app just to try it out. As of this early morning writing, the Taco Bells in the Utica area are closed, so I'll have to curb my electronically triggered stomach grumbling for now.

As I sit here and think about it though, Taco Bell's whole tagline is that you can skip the lines by ordering on the app. However, you have to go to the store to pick up your order anyway, either using the drive-thru or by going inside. Won't there still potentially be lines to navigate? It's not like online ordering gives you a free pass to the front of the line right? I wonder just how much faster this is going to be because at least from my experience, lines are the slowest part of fast food. Stay tuned for our forthcoming experiment...
