9 to 9:50 p.m. [ET], followed by an extended version of “Parks and Recreation.” Carell, who plays inept branch manager Michael Scott, announced last year that this would be his last season on the series, which premiered in 2005. NBC has made no announcement about who might fill the gap in the cast. Will Ferrell will be joining the show starting Thursday, playing an interim manager. But Ferrell will not be sticking around for next season. He says he has no interest in a permanent return to television.

I think they should end the show with Carell getting a job in the Utica office.
