One of my favorite events during the summer in central New York is "The Great New York State Fair" in Syracuse. And this year, one of legends of rock, John Kay and Steppenwolf will be appearing on the Chevy Court stage! Here are the details according to nysfair.org/2014:

"John Kay & Steppenwolf, the band that first made popular the term 'heavy metal,' will perform at Chevy Court during the 2014 Great New York State Fair at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25.

Founding member Kay, who lived for a time in Buffalo before moving to California and forming what would become Steppenwolf, has been the band's leader since its first days in 1967. It's his voice that blasted from the radio on signature hits "Born To Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride." Both singles remain staples of classic rock radio and continue to be heavily identified with riding motorcycles on the open road because of their appearance on the soundtrack for the classic film, "Easy Rider".

(John Kay is seen above with the star of Easy Rider, Peter Fonda).

Concerts on Chevy Court are free with your admission to the Fair. Performances on Chevy Court are presented by Chevrolet."
