Stay Cool And Hydrated This Summer With Beer Flavored Ice Cream- Introducing Yazoo Sue With Rosemary Bar Nuts
This summer beat the heat with beer flavored ice cream. Do you think I’m kidding? I’m not. Our friends at the Yazoo Brewing Company of Nashville have teamed up with Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams in Columbus, Ohio, to deliver a delicious treat.
Jeni’s created a beer ice cream called Yazoo Sue With Rosemary Bar Nuts. So does beer mix well with beer?
“Beer can help bring some bitterness and dryness to an ice cream, which is traditionally sweeter than other desserts,” said Jeni Britton Bauer, the founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams . “It has this great functionality.”
So what does Jeni’s beer ice cream taste like?
Built from the ground up with a creamy, rich, and mellow cherry wood-smoked porter (by Nashville’s Yazoo Brewing Company) and fistfuls of savory “bar nuts”—peanuts, pecans, and almonds dusted with rosemary, brown sugar, and cayenne.”
You can order this for a smooth $12.
Apparently this isn’t the first time beer and ice cream have met. According to the New York Times, The Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream shop in the Mission District of San Francisco produces a line of beer ice creams every year for that city’s Beer Week. The company Frozen Pints out of Atlanta also sells seven beer ice creams.
Just imagine what a beer float taste like?
