There's been lots of speculation about who would direct 'Star Wars: Episode 7' but so far we haven't heard any rumors regarding the plot of 'Star Wars: Episode 7.' But that may have changed with a new report that may have revealed the top secret plot of the new 'Star Wars' trilogy.

While we'd be immediately skeptical of any report that claims to know the plot of 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' this new report comes from respected news organization Reuters, so this isn't some kid in his basement making up stuff on a 'Star Wars' message board. The update came in a Reuters article on the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, which was used as a filming location in the original 'Star Wars' for the rebel base Yavin. Buried towards the end is this note on the 'Star Wars: Episode 7' plot:

Yavin 4 and the rebel base return to the Star Wars plot in the forthcoming Episode 7, announced in October by the Walt Disney Co, in which Skywalker comes back to the planet to build a Jedi knight academy.

Now, just because this news was in a Reuters article doesn't necessarily mean it's fact. The news is reported in an article about the alleged Mayan apocalypse so...

Now the Luke Skywalker-as-Jedi-knight-teacher is not a new plotline in the 'Star Wars' universe. In the 'Star Wars' books, Skywalker taught 12 pupils on Yavin IV before the spirit of Sith Lord Exar Kun began turning some of them to the Dark Side. This storyline also includes Jaina and Jacin Solo, the twin sons of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

It certainly makes sense as a possible 'Star Wars: Episode 7' plot since it returns Luke, Leia and Han but also introduces a new set of Jedis (and a new Sith villain). What do you think? Does it sound plausible? Do you like this new direction for 'Star Wars: Episode 7?'

UPDATE (12/20): TheForce.net got a hold of Reuters writer Michael McDonald, who clarified what he wrote in the piece:

This was a mistake. I misunderstood what fan clubs had told me and shown me in book plots and that storyline has not been announced by Disney. Perhaps I should have written something along the lines of 'Yavin 4 appears in several Star Wars book plots and while Guatemala fans said they hope film crews return to Tikal, the company has not announced plans for the new episode.
