You probably know by now that I'm a huge fan of The Beatles, and this Thursday, the "Fab Four" will be the theme of a music fest at the Stanley Theater in downtown Utica. Here are the details.

According to thestanley.org:

"Stanley Beatles Musicfest

The Stanley Beatles Musicfest is a fundraiser for The Stanley. It coincides with The Beatles 50th Anniversary of their first Ed Sullivan TV appearance! Make plans to join us on Thursday, February 6th for this historic and enjoyable evening Featuring Plastic Soul and the long-awaited reunion of Danny Holmes and Rich Mancini!

PLASTIC SOUL is definitely not your stereotypical "Beatles" band. Shunning the wigs, costumes favored by most tributes, this Central New York-based group is distinguished by its unique approach to the music, designed to evoke the energy and excitement of the Beatles as a live rock and roll band.

Plastic Soul is:

MARK BARNES - singer, guitarist

JON LIEBING – singer, drums.

JOHN SMALES – singer, bass

HOLMES & MANCINI

Danny Homes and Rich Mancini met back in 1973, when Dan played bass guitar and sang with Rich in a band called Daze, a group that would open for Dr. Hook on our Stanley stage! After going their separate ways, they reunited in 1977 for a few appearances as a duo at clubs in the Utica and New Hartford area. Their popularity took off and they spent the next five years together, playing locally and at colleges and clubs throughout the Northeast. While they have done two select reunion shows since then, it has been 15 years since they've played together and we are excited to have them back in town and back on our Stanley stage!
