Amanda Bynes Officially Charged in Hit-and-Run

Amanda Bynes has officially been slapped with charges stemming from two hit-and-run incidents. The troubled actress almost wiggled out of charges for smashing and dashing back in April, but then she repeated her mistake last month, prompting prosecutors to bundle the cases. Bynes will be tried on two misdemeanor counts, which doesn't sound that bad until you consider that a conviction could land her behind bars for a year.

James Franco’s Professor Files Suit

One of James Franco's college professors is suing the actor for defamation. He says Franco had a public hissy fit and insulted him after getting a "D" for playing hooky one too many times. Jose Angel Santana tells the New York Post that he believes he was fired from New York University because Franco publicly called him out as a bad teacher and insulted his skills in the film industry.

Alec Baldwin Sounds Off On Hank Jr.

Hank Williams Junior's recent anti-Obama comments have reached well beyond the country world even catching the attention of 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin. At a recent concert near Dallas, Hank said, “We’ve got a Muslim for a president who hates cowboys, hates cowgirls, hates fishing, hates farming, …. and we hate him!" That prompted Baldwin to Tweet, "If Hank Williams Junior wasn't such a pathetic, wheezing fossil, I'd have a talk with him. I think we need to call Hank Williams Junior what he is a broken-down, senile, racist coot."

Songwriter Joe South Dead At Age 72

Songwriter Joe South, who played on Bob Dylan‘s ‘Blonde on Blonde’ and whose song ‘Hush’ became a huge hit for Deep Purple, died at age 72 (Sept. 5) of unspecified causes. South had a solid career writing for others. Country artist Lynn Anderson enjoyed pop crossover success with her 1970 hit single ‘Rose Garden’ that South penned, while Billy Joe Royal recorded the initial version of ‘Hush’ as well as the South-written tracks ‘Down in the Boondocks’ and ‘I Knew You When.’ The musician was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1979 and became a member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 1981.
