Was it Joe Elliot's love of baking that inspired 'Pour Some Sugar on Me?'

Nope, we learned from SongFacts that Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliot the first record he ever bought was "Sugar Sugar" by the cartoon band The Archies. That song ended up being one of the biggest songs of 1969. Near the end of the song there is a line that goes pour a little sugar on me baby. Elliot  says that line inspired the song "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

The lyrics are clearly about sex - Elliott says "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is "The metaphor for whatever sexual preference you enjoy"
