Life is never fair, and that can always be an excuse when it comes to love. Whether it's fair or not, marital status really does affect the price you pay for auto insurance. It’s gonna cost more for single guys.

According to a British survey, single guys are paying up to 28 percent higher rates than married guys for no other reason than they didn't walk down the aisle. An investigation of major online car insurance firms found that marital status can bump up the price you pay for motor cover.

The survey found a 27 year-old ‘divorced/dissolved’ man living in South London was charged £266.42. This was 28 per cent higher than the best quote, which was for a motorist labelled as ‘cohabiting or partnered’.

Guess it pays to be married, literally it pays.
