Should The New York Jets Replace Mark Sanchez With Tim Tebow?

After Sunday’s pathetic performance of the Gang Green many thoughts are crossing New York Jets fans this week. One of those thoughts is “Should we keep Mark Sanchez?” Even though much of New York thinks we've had enough of Sanchez on the field, Rex Ryan is standing by his quarterback. 

The Jets coach said Monday he knows ‘‘in my heart’’ that switching quarterbacks is not the move that will jump-start the team, even after Sunday’s embarrassing 34-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Ryan says there’s plenty more that needs to improve than just quarterback play — although Sanchez needs to bounce back from a few lousy performances.”

Needs to bounce back is an understatement. We need him to start performing a lot better, and we need him to do this fast. He isn't a rookie anymore. He’s been on this team for a few years now. When is he supposed to start showing up to the game? Not for nothing, he isn't our only option. We didn't bring Tim Tebow in so he could look pretty on the bench.

Tebow was expected to bring a spark to the team by confusing defenses and making big plays in the Wildcat offense. So far, the Tebow Wildcat experiment has been a dud. He has played in just 31 of the Jets’ 257 offensive snaps, and Tebow has done little to strike fear in opposing defenses when he has been out there.”

Why hasn't Rex put him in yet? What could his logic possibly be?

‘‘I just know in my heart, right now, that this is not the time,’’ Ryan said when asked what it would take for him to switch quarterbacks. ‘‘I think Tim is an outstanding player and I think Mark is. Right now, I think Mark gives us our best opportunity to win.’’”

I think the time to switch was yesterday. Tim Tebow is finally starting to get comfortable as a Jet. He completed his first pass as a member of Gang Green on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

Something big needs to happen before this weekend. The Jets will host the Houston Texans (4-0) on Monday Night Football at 8:30pm ET.
