One sure sign of warmer weather on the way is Saranac Thursdays at the F.X. Matt Brewery (my Alma Mater) at the corner of Court and Varick Streets. The first Saranac Thursday of the season kicks off Thursday night, with the live sounds of "New York Funk Exchange". We've more details and the complete Saranac Thursdays band schedule.

Here's more from saranac.com:

"The 2014 Saranac Thursdays season will kick off on Thursday, May 22nd and run through Thursday, September 4th in the F.X. Matt Brewery's outdoor beer garden. The Saranac family of beers and handcrafted soft drinks will be available. Live music from local bands and food by Dean's Concessions will add to the summer's best outdoor happy hour.

Gates will open at 5:30 PM with live music from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Admission to the event is $5.00, which includes one beverage. Ages 21 and over allowed. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. Since its inception, Saranac Thursdays have raised nearly $450,000 to support our community. More than 1,000 United Way volunteers from local companies and organizations have donated their time to work this event.
