Was there some sort of deep-seated hatred between The Eagles and Steely Dan?

In "Everything You Did", Steely Dan vocalist Donald Fagen sings the line:

Turn up The Eagles, the neighbors are listening...

In "Hotel California", Eagles vocalist Don Henley sings:

They stab it with their Steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast...

Was this code for some musical feud between the two?  Luckily this video (definitely NSFW unless you work where I do) seems to explain it.  Or does it?  You be the judge.

J.D. Ryznar created the Yacht Rock "short" video series to explain a bunch of 70's & 80's soft rock artists, like Loggins & Messina, The Doobie Brothers, Christopher Cross.  They are all hilarious, but The Eagles/Steely Dan episode is still my favorite.
