The Montreal Canadiens came flying out the gate and seemed faster and more physical that the New York Rangers. But after falling behind 1-0, Henrik Lundqvist went into brick-wall-mode and Blueshirts’ offense was able to find the net in a 3-1 Game 2 road win on Monday night in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Just 17 seconds after the Habs took the lead, Ryan Callahan tied it and seemed to knock the wind out of Montreal’s Bell Centre. Rick Nash got his second goal in the last two games – the only two goals he’s scored in these playoffs – assisted by the series villain Chris Kreider. Kreider was booed each time hie touched the puck after sliding into the Habs’ Carey Price in Game 1 causing an apparent lower body injury that will force Montreal’s goalie to miss the remainder of the postseason.

The Rangers’ final tally of the night came on the power play in the second from Martin St Louis who now has five goals in the playoffs.

Lundqvist stopped 40 of 41 shots on the night. His counterpart Dustin Tokarski, filling in for price, had 30 saves.

The best-of-7 series moves to New York for Game 3 on Thursday night.
