It's times like these when home-ice advantage is so important.

Tonight's series deciding Game 7 between the Rangers and Flyers is at MSG, theoretically giving the Blueshirts an advantage. However, each team has already one a game in the other's home arena.

And, speaking of advantages, it's certainly worth noting that the Rangers will have to do a better job when they have one. Philadelphia's goalies - Ray Emery and Steve Mason - along with a tough defense have held New York scoreless over the last 20, yes 20, power play opportunities.

The Blueshirts' last PP goal came in the first half of the first period of Game 2 at the Garden - a game that saw NY's early 2-0 lead end 4-2 in favor of the Flyers.

On the other side, Philly has scored on the power play in each of the three games they've taken in the series. And somebody needs to put a body on Wayne Simmonds, whose Game 6 hat-trick was more than enough to sink the Rangers and force tonight's series finale.

The NHL has three series deciding Game 7's on tap tonight to close out the first round of playoff action:

  • Philadelphia @ New York (7:00)
  • Minnesota @ Colorado  (9:30)
  • Los Angeles @ San Jose (10:00)
