The latest '+1' trailer may initially make the film look like a fairly normal "teens go partying and learn life lessons" movie, but there's a lot more going on. After all, a movie about a party is just another teen flick, but a movie about a party where a freak supernatural occurrence causes a group of friends to go back in time and relive the party with their past selves is something else altogether.

After earning some nice buzz out of this year's SXSW film festival, '+1' is finally going to be available for full public viewing, courtesy of IFC films. Although the red-band trailer doesn't sell a movie that's incredibly gory, which is usually the purpose of these things, it does sell a movie that's creepy, disturbing and more than a little crazy. This thing looks like 'Project X' and 'Back to the Future Part II' got put in a horror-genre blender. We hope it lives up to the promise of the marketing.

Here's the official synopsis, which keeps things nice and vague:

Three college friends hit the biggest party of the year, where a mysterious phenomenon disrupts the night, quickly descending into a chaos that challenges their friendships -- and whether they can stay alive.

'+1' opens in theaters and hits VOD on September 20, 2013.
