C.J. Fair poured in a career-high 21 points to help No.2 Syracuse get past a scrappy Rutgers squad on Sunday.

The game was close throughout the second half but the Orange (27-1, 14-1 Big East) pulled away late for a 74-64 win.

Scoop Jardine had 17 points and Kris Joseph added 14.

As a team, Syracuse shot exactly 50-percent from the floor (24-of-48).

The Scarlet Knights hung around all afternoon with the play of Gilvydas Biruta who scored 21.

The Orange host South Florida on Wednesday night.
