Everyone knows the Rolling Stones were influenced heavily by the blues, so their 1981 meeting with legendary bluesman Muddy Waters was a dream come true. On July 10, fans will get a chance see the collaborative performance as ‘Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones: Live at the Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago 1981′ arrives in both CD and DVD form.

Back in 1981, the Rolling Stones were still at the height of their fame crossing the country on a major tour when they found themselves with a night off in Chicago. As fate would have it, Waters was also in town performing at his own juke joint, so the band made their way to the Checkerboard Lounge to catch the show.

After seeing the band members in attendance, Waters invited Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, and piano player Ian Stewart to the stage for a performance that was captured for posterity. That show has since been digitally mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain and is now available for all to enjoy.

Eagle Rock Entertainment will issue the collection July 10 in both CD and DVD form, with a special DVD/2-LP vinyl version following on Sept. 11.
