More Lake Effect Snow In Oneida County Through Friday 2/28

What seems like the winter that will never end continues with more Lake Effect Snow, especially for Northern Oneida county.  A Lake Effect Snow Advisory in effect today and a Lake Effect Snow Watch for tomorrow.  Click for details.

The National Weather Service has issued the Lake Effect Snow Advisory through 7 tonight.  After a brief break Thursday morning, a Lake effect Snow Watch will go into effect Thursday afternoon through Friday.  Windy condition with temperatures in the teens means wind chills will be bitter too.
* LOCATIONS…NORTHERN ONEIDA COUNTY.

* HAZARDS…LAKE EFFECT SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS…SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 7 INCHES FROM
  TODAY…INTO EARLY THIS EVENING. AFTER A BRIEF LULL OVERNIGHT
  AND THURSDAY MORNING…LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL RE-INTENSIFY
  THURSDAY AFTERNOON…THEN PERSIST INTO FRIDAY. ADDITIONAL
  SNOWFALL THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND THURSDAY NIGHT COULD EXCEED 7 INCHES.

* TIMING…AN ARCTIC FRONT WILL BRING A QUICK INCH OR SO OF
  SNOWFALL EARLY THIS MORNING. LAKE-EFFECT SNOW WILL QUICKLY
  DEVELOP BEHIND THE FRONT BETWEEN 7 AND 9 AM…WITH LAKE SNOWS
  THEN CONTINUING MOST OF THE DAY…BEFORE LIFTING NORTHWARD BY
  EARLY EVENING. ANOTHER FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL CROSS THE AREA    BY MIDDAY ON THURSDAY…WITH A NEW LAKE-EFFECT SNOW BAND FORMING THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT.

* TEMPERATURES…IN THE TEENS TODAY…SINGLE DIGITS
  OVERNIGHT…AND TEENS AGAIN ON THURSDAY.

* WINDS…WEST 15 TO 25 MPH TODAY…WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH. WINDS
  WILL TURN SOUTHWEST 10 TO 20 MPH TONIGHT AND THURSDAY
  MORNING…BEFORE BECOMING WESTERLY AGAIN THURSDAY
  AFTERNOON…WITH GUSTS OF 25 TO 35 MPH ANTICIPATED.

* IMPACTS…HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS FROM SNOW…BLOWING
  SNOW…AND LOW VISIBILITIES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING.
A LAKE EFFECT SNOW WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR A LARGE
AMOUNT OF SNOW IN ONLY A FEW HOURS. VISIBILITIES AND DEPTH OF
SNOW CAN VARY GREATLY…IMPACTING TRAVEL SIGNIFICANTLY. CONTINUE
TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
