Matt “The Hammer” Hamill might have recently announced his retirement but it’s not the last Central New York will hear or see of him. Not only is ‘The Cage” a sports bar and restaurant  co-owned by Hamill opening up soon but next week the world premiere of “The Hammer” will hit select theaters throughout the country.

“The Hammer” premieres next week and is based on Matt Hamill’s life growing up deaf and becoming a successful UFC and MMA fighter. Last night they just announced on facebook that the red carpet World Premiere will take place at the Uptown Theater on Genesee Street in Utica October 26th at 7pm. According to “The Cage” facebook page, tickets to the movie event are $10 and portions of the proceeds will go to the New York State School for the Deaf in Rome. Check out the movie trailer below.
