You may have heard the old saying, "If March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb", and the march winds will be blowing. Now that it's March, let's take a look at the long-range weather predictions for the month.

According to one of my favorite sources, "The Old Farmer's Almanac 2014", here's how March shapes up for central New York, weatherwise:

"Average temperature: 37 degrees (1 degree below average)

Precipitation: 3 inches (which is average)

March 1 - 7: Snow showers, cold

March 8 - 11: Sunny, turning warmer

March 12 - 15: Rainy periods, cooler (Let's hope it's not one of those rainy periods on March 15t for the Utica St. Patrick's Day Parade).

March 16 - 19: Rain, then wet snow and colder

March 20 - 24: Snow showers and cold

March 25 - 31: Rainy periods and mild"

My birthday is on March 9th, so I imagine it will be sunny and warm that day (fingers crossed). And of course, spring arrives this month!
