Hi everyone, if I told you today, that Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” is one of the greatest Southern rock anthems of all time, you would be prone to agree with me, right?  Would you believe me if I told you that the song has just reached 3 million digital downloads?  You better believe it, because it’s absolutely true.  The song was released in 1974, which makes it the oldest tune to ever hit the 3 million mark in digital sales.  Pretty impressive, right?

Actually, the only other song that was released in the 70s that has surpassed 3 million downloads is….you guessed it, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” which has about 3,362,000 downloads.

So it goes to show you that you don’t have to be an up and coming artist to get your song downloaded.  There are some of us older folk that know how to download a song on to one of those new fangled smarty phones!
