New photos from the scene of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's April 1994 suicide have been released by Seattle police, who recently took another look at all their collected evidence from the case.

Updated 3/30: Even more new photos (six, bringing the total to 15) have been released. The newest images can be found at the top of the series of images below.

According to Detective Mike Ciesynski, authorities took this action knowing that media and fan interest would be heightened as the 20th anniversary of the singer's tragic death approached. “I was requested to look at the case because I’m a cold case detective, because it is 20 years later, and it’s a high media case,” Ciesynski told local television station KIRO. “There were always these conspiracy theorists out there, and so I was asked to look at the case and review it.”

This work included developing four rolls of film previously deemed not essential to the investigation. The police are quick to state that nothing in these new photos has caused them to change their original determination that Cobain killed himself on April 5, 1994. But after initially saying they would not release any further images from the crime scene, they have shared the 15 photos displayed below.
