Deron Williams lit up New York for 38 points as New Jersey halted the Knicks 100-92 on Monday at Madison Square Garden.

New York was looking for its ninth win in the last ten games on a night when Carmelo Anthony returned from a seven game absence (groin) and Baron Davis made his Knicks debut.

Jeremy Lin got the Knicks off to a great start with back-to-back assists to open the contest, as New York ran out to a 13-3 lead. But, Williams, who has scored at least 26-points in each of the last six games, was the catalyst the rest of the way. He hit 8-of-14 from beyond the arc, a career-high, and as a team the Nets shot 15-of-31 from 3-point range.

Lin led the Knicks' scoring attack with 21-points to go along with nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals - against just three turnovers.

Anthony shot just 4-of-11 from the field for eleven points. Davis had three points in ten minutes of play.

Amar'e Stoudemire pitched in 17 points while Landry Fields had ten points and eleven boards.

The Nets' Kris Humphries had a double-double of his own - 14 points and 14 rebounds.

New York (16-17) will host the Hawks on Wednesday night at MSG.
