Jim Morrison’s Family Requests Apology
Last month Doors legend Jim Morrison was granted a posthumous pardon by the state of Florida for indecent exposure charges following an incident at a 1969 concert in Miami. And though the state has cleared the rock legend’s name, his family and friends still have some hard feelings. In an official statement, Morrison’s family and former band members have called for an official apology from the state of Florida. “His performance in Miami that night was certainly provocative, and entirely in the insurrectionary spirit of the Doors’ music and message. The charges against him were largely an opportunity for grandstanding by ambitious politicians - not to mention an affront to free speech and a massive waste of time and taxpayer dollars,” they wrote in a statement. They added that the state should not only apologize but also wipe all records of the case from their system.
