How Much Snow Did Central New York Get?
Yesterday was a winter blast and then some, and we all spent a good part of last night and this morning digging out from the snow here in the Utica-Rome area. How much snow did we get? Check out my scientific research.
I’ve developed a unique system of determining snow accumulation in my neighborhood. I use a highly sophisticated piece of scientific equipment called a “Gregometer”. Here’s how it works. I take a photo of the railing on our deck on a day when it didn’t snow.
After a snowstorm like yesterday, I take another high tech piece of equipment known as a yardstick and measure how much snow is on that same deck railing. I don’t want to lose anybody in all this scientific jargon, but I think you now see how the “Gregometer” works. For the record, I cleared the deck of several inches of snow we had earlier yesterday, so this measurement is of snow we got last night.
According to the photos above, you can plainly see that we had about 4.5 inches of additional snow where I live. I know, amazing!
This is a highly technical scientific procedure, so please do not try this at home without the proper equipment and training.
