How a Vegan Celebrates National Dessert Day
First things first. What’s a vegan? A vegan is like a vegetarian; however, a vegetarian will eat dairy products, a vegan will not. A vegan does not eat meat, fish, dairy or eggs. I have been a vegan for six years. So, you might be wondering, how does a vegan celebrate National Dessert Day (celebrated every October 14)? All good desserts have dairy products and eggs in them, right? Well, I’ll let you in on a little vegan secret–there’s a way to make ice cream without milk.
All ice cream has dairy in it, right? Well, there are some dairy-free, vegan ice cream substitutes out there that use coconut milk instead of milk from a cow. It’s really good. But, if you don’t have time to go to the store and buy vegan ice cream, I’ve got the answer. It’s ice cream made from a frozen banana.
It’s simple. Freeze a banana, put it in a food processor, and that’s it. It takes a little bit of time to get creamy. But, that’s it. I add a little bit of peanut butter and just a tiny bit of cocoa powder, too.
And, there you have it. A perfect way to celebrate National Dessert Day vegan style.
