History Of Nora’s Candy Shop Turkey Joints
This holiday season you’ll have your typical holiday treats: candy canes, cookies and milk, 7 layer bars, and of course eggnog. Will you be chowing down on Nora’s Candy Shop Turkey Joints? If you’re a true Central New Yorker I’m betting you are. Christmas in the valley isn’t Christmas without Turkey Joints.
The Nora family has been manufacturing Turkey Joints in Rome the same way since 1919. Their secret is making them handmade. Turkey Joints get their name from their unique design. The Original Turkey Joints have a silvery sugar coating with a center filled with rich chocolate and brazilnuts. Turkey Joints come in several varieties, including Original Turkey Joints, Chocolate Covered Turkey Joints, and Coco-Monds. Many consider them a Central New York Thanksgiving and Christmas tradition. However, you can pick them up all year long. I’ve managed to buy them at Herb Philipson‘s all year long.
Nora’s Candy Shop is open year round at 321 North Doxtator Street in Rome. They are open M-F 10:00a – 4:00p, and on Sat 10:00a – 2:00p. If your family is out of the area and looking for a great taste of Rome, they can order Turkey joints online by Clicking Here for $19.49.
