The new 'Hercules' trailer is upon us and it has everything you'd want from a big summer movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in that title role. Big battles. Bulging muscles. Mythological beasts. Screaming. Slow motion. You know, the usual. Well, everything you'd want except for a modern song ("No One Knows" by Queens of the Stone Age) playing obnoxiously loud over it, but that just goes with the territory of movie marketing these days.

[UPDATE: We've added the film's official poster below.]

Has there ever been a man who seemed more fitting for the role of Hercules than Dwayne Johnson? The man is impossibly, stupefyingly huge. He looks less like a human being and more like a comic drawing come to life. If you told us he could lift boulders over his head in real life, we'd believe you. Cast him as the most famous warrior in all of human mythology and we'd believe and we'll believe that he could single-handedly kill entire armies.

As great as Johnson's casting is, the weak link seems to be director Brett Ratner, who has turned in his fair share of competent action films but also plenty of stinkers. Still, a Hercules movie starring The Rock sounds awfully hard to screw up. All you really have to do is point the camera at him why he stabs things and everything should be all good.

Here's the official synopsis:

Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules' help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail... he must again become the hero he once was... he must embrace his own myth... he must be Hercules.

'Hercules' charges into theaters on July 25, 2014.
