Have Local Hotels Kicked Out Flood Victims Due To Runners Coming In For The Boilermaker?
According to WIBX, President Obama has approved New York state’s request for a federal disaster declaration followng last month’s flooding. Counties eligible for FEMA funding include Oneida, Herkimer, Madison and Montgomery. As the area is trying to rebuild many people have had to relocate to local hotels. However, with the Boilermaker Road Race this weekend, have local hotels kicked out flood victims?
I’ve read through a couple complaints on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram that local flood victims were being kicked out of hotels and motels due to runners coming in this weekend for the Boilermaker.
Think about it…. At least 14,000 runners run in the big race on Sunday. That doesn’t count the amount of family coming in, and other spectators. One could round about 15,000-20,000 people will come out for everything. Not all of these people are local, they would need a place to stay.
Where are they staying? Answer: hotels, motels, friends and family homes.
I can’t confirm or deny that hotels have kicked flood victims out…. But it does have you thinking.
Do you think area hotels would kick people out like that?
