Here is your your history lesson for today, the 18th day of September, 2014. On this date back in 1947, due to the National Security Act and the plan to restructure our military following World War II, the United States Air Force was formed.  The War Department, at the time, felt that the Army Air Corp, due to the increased use of air power, needed its own branch of the military.

It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, and is the largest and one of the world's most technologically advanced air forces in the world.  Kind of makes you proud, huh?  Want to know more?  Take a look here

Your host, Chip Douglas, is proud to have served in the Air Force for this great nation for over 20 years (I know, you thought I was much much younger, right?).  Does the Air Force celebrate its birthday?  Absolutely.  I recall, throughout the years diving into some cake on Sept 18th.  Lots of blue and white frosting.  Not a bad thing.  Here's to many more productive years to the most powerful air force in the world.
