In a desperate need of a victory after losing six of seven games our Buffalo Sabres found their answer in beating the Edmonton squad on Tuesday night. Can they keep the momentum going on Friday against the Hurricanes?

The Hurricanes remain in last, but they're starting to pick up points on a more regular basis. Tuesday night's game against the New York Islanders provided Carolina with a chance to escape the basement.

"They all hurt. They all sting. But you do what you can with it," defenseman Jay Harrison said. "We should be pretty frustrated and upset with ourselves, and that should drive our next two work days to bring a better, more complete effort."

Could that frustration help beat the Sabres on Friday? I guess time will tell. Our Sabres are playing a few players short in Friday’s game. Forward Ville Leino has missed the last nine games, and is still on injured reserve along with defenseman Tyler Myers and forwards Corey Tropp and Colin Stuart. On defense, Andrej Sekera and Christian Ehrhoff and forward Tyler Ennis are out indefinitely.
