According to Brew Central New York, Galaxy Brewing is the second brewpub to open in downtown Binghamton. The Water Street Brewing Company on 168 Water Street opened just around the corner from Galaxy in mid-2012.
Galaxy Brewing Co. was founded in 2011 by a local father and son brewing team who are dedicated to producing the finest craft ales. Galaxy Brewing Co. and brewpub represent the culmination of their life long aspiration to deliver quality beer to Binghamton and beyond. We are dedicated to producing the finest craft beer and excellent food using as much locally sourced products as possible.”
Galaxy is scheduled to open August 23rd coinciding with the return of Binghamton University students. Seems like smart business right? The brewpup/restaurant will have 12 beers on tap, eight of which will be permanent offerings.
Beer styles will vary, and include ales and lagers, particularly Belgian ale styles. Weisel is planning to offer a Pilsner, a Bock, an extra strong bitter style, an India Pale Ale, a specialty Stout, a Belgian Golden, a Belgian Dubbel, and a hoppy Belgian ale. Galaxy will also serve liquor and wine. He plans to work with the chef to pair the menu with selected beers.”
